Job description: Wheel Aligner

Bridgestone Service Centre Winnellie & Ironman 4×4 is looking for a WHEEL ALIGNER. Applicants require a current Driver’s Licence. Previous automotive experience is essential. Experience in wheel aligning all vehicles (including light trucks up to 6 tonnes) is desired, but not essential, as we can provide on-the-job training for the right applicant.

We pay above award wages (up to $74,000 per annum), depending on your skills, experience and references.

Full-time position at 38 hours per week plus overtime including Saturdays (8am – 12pm), depending on bookings.

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Carry out all types of wheel alignments to customer vehicles.
  • Fit and balance passenger and light truck tyres to customers’ vehicles in accordance with job cards.
  • Ensure tyres have the correct pressure and wheel nuts are tightened as per company policy and procedure.
  • Diagnose tyre damage/wear and inform customers of options; seek supervisor’s advice as necessary.
  • Conduct test drives of customer vehicles to ensure quality of service/workmanship.
  • Prior to vehicles leaving the workshop, ensure the vehicle is prepared for customer collection e.g. wipe clean any hand marks etc.
  • Maintain and use tools appropriately to contribute to a safe workshop environment.
  • Adhere to Work Health and Safety requirements.
  • Ensure all equipment is used and maintained correctly and safely.
  • In consultation with the Operations Manager, ensure all equipment calibrations are carried out as per requirement.
  • Ensure all work areas and equipment are clean and tidy at all times.
  • Participate in relevant training and toolbox meetings as required.
  • Always wear appropriate safety gear and protective clothing whilst on duty.
  • Assist in other areas of the store e.g. tyre fitting, wheel balancing and other duties as directed by your Supervisor, the Operations Manager or Store Manager.

  1. Carry out all types of wheel alignments, tyre fitting and wheel balancing in the correct manner to ensure customer satisfaction and safety.
  2. Adhere to company operating policies and procedures.
  3. Maintain good working relationships with all staff and customers.
  4. Report directly to the Supervisor or, in their absence, the Operations Manager or Store Manager.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

Qualifications:  

  • Certified qualifications required to undertake the wheel-aligning tasks are desirable, but not essential. We can provide on-the-job training for the right applicant.
  • Current Drivers Licence.

Experience: 

  • Previous automotive experience is essential.
  • Previous experience in wheel aligning is desirable but not essential.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a customer service and team environment.
  • Previous experience working in physical/labouring positions is essential.

Skills: 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff.
  • Ability to follow instructions and seek clarification, as necessary.
  • Respond to constructive feedback and participate in identifying personal performance goals.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload.
  • Appropriate level of numeracy and literacy skills to undertake duties.

  • Ensure all customer and company vehicles are driven safely and responsibly.
  • All work carried out must be done to ensure the safety of all employees and customers. Correct safety clothing/footwear and equipment must be worn and used at all times to comply with Work Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Company uniform must be worn and maintained in a clean and tidy standard as per company policy, so employees present a professional appearance.
  • Maintain and promote a work environment free from discrimination and harassment.
  • Ensure that there are open channels of communication where employees may raise issues of concern.
  • Adhere to applicable legislation and company policies and procedures.

  • Work to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as negotiated in Performance Management Meetings with your supervisor.
