Bridgestone Service Centre Winnellie & Ironman 4×4 is looking for a TYRE TECHNICIAN. Applicants should hold a current NT Drivers Licence. Experience in fitting and balancing passenger, light truck and agricultural tyres to customers’ vehicles is desired, but not essential as we can provide on-the-job training for the right applicant.

We pay above award wages ($25 – $28 per hour; $950 – $1,064 per week), dependent on your skills, experience and references who can be contacted.

Full-time position at 38 hours per week plus overtime including Saturdays (8am – 12 noon), depending on bookings.

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Fit and balance passenger, light truck and agricultural tyres to customers’ vehicles in accordance with job cards.
  • Ensure tyres have the correct pressure and wheel nuts are tightened as per company policy and procedure.
  • Diagnose tyre damage/wear and inform customers of options; seek supervisor’s advice as necessary.
  • Prior to vehicles leaving the workshop, ensure vehicle is prepared for customer collection.
  • Maintaining and using tools appropriately and maintaining a safe workshop environment.
  • Adhere to Work Health and Safety requirements.
  • Ensure all equipment is used and maintained in a correct and safe manner. In consultation with the Operations Manager, ensure all equipment calibrations are carried out as per requirement. 
  • Ensure all work areas and equipment are clean and tidy at all times.
  • Participate in relevant training and toolbox meetings as required.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear and protective clothing at all times whilst on duty.
  • Assist in other areas of the store e.g. tyre fitting, wheel balancing and other duties as directed by the Operations Manager or Sales Manager.

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES: 

  1. Safely fit and balance passenger, light truck and agricultural tyres to customers’ vehicles in accordance with job cards.
  2. Adhere to company operating policies and procedures.
  3. Maintain good working relationships with all staff and customers.
  4. Report directly to the Operations Manager or, in his absence, the Sales Manager.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

Qualifications:  

  • Certified qualifications required to undertake the tyre fitting tasks are desirable. but not essential. We can provide on-the-job-training for the right applicant.

  • Previous experience in tyre fitting and relevant automotive positions is desirable but not essential.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a customer service and team environment.

Skills: 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff.

  • Appropriate level of numeracy and literacy skills to undertake duties.
  • Ability to use computer systems and office equipment.
